Dubbed the “queen of electronic soul”, Billie first came to prominence as a guest with S-Xpress before leading the acclaimed deep house act Electribe 101, her unique voice hitting both the house scene and the charts with a strong infusion of soul, scoring a brace of hits including the classic “Talking With Myself” before departing to explore fusions of electronic music, pop and soul. After the thoroughly scary “Persuasion” with Spooky and the monumentally beautiful “Four Ambient Tales” with The Grid, came a worldwide number 1 in “Your Loving Arms”; now considered one of the all-time classics of dance music. Three more hits and the album “Deadline for My Memories” followed.

Since then Billie has worked with Ann Peebles, Carla Thomas and members of Aretha Franklin’s band on her album “18 Carat Garbage” and continued to release cutting edge collaborations with the likes of DJ Hell, Slam and underground darlings Hard Ton. Their “Sold Life EP” featuring a cover of Pierre’s Pfantasy Club classic “Fantasy Girl”, created a serious buzz and was charted by everyone from Laurent Garnier to Kim Ann Foxman from Hercules and Love Affair.

Billie’s solo projects include 2008′s “Undisco Me” which hit the top spots in the UK and US dance charts and “Crackdown Project” -released in 2010- received universal praise from Flux Magazine, Wound and The Wire as well as ‘Song of the Day’ status at Popjustice. 2011 saw Billie’s new vision of Italo disco bear fruit with ‘Sweet Suburban Disco’ quickly attracting support from the world’s key DJs from Black Strobe to John Digweed.

Then came The Opiates – a project with Norwegian musician Robert Solheim dubbed ‘The Carpenters of electro’ such is the quality of the songwriting. The album ‘Hollywood Under The Knife’ met with massive support from DJs, press and blogs alike including a four star review in Metro and many ‘album of the year’ entries in major publications. Turner-prize winner Wolfgang Tillmans, who has photographed Billie twice and also selected her as ‘most influential woman’ in i-D Magazine, supplied nine previously unseen images for the album art. Eight amazing music videos and a UK tour followed.

Just released; ‘Hollywood Cuts’ by The Opiates – a stunning and unique remix collection featuring contributions from Aerea Negrot and Kim Ann Foxman of Hercules and Love Affair, to Dan Beaumont and Disco Bloodbath plus Throbbing Gristle legends Chris & Cosey is already gaining major support.

Billie is currently working on her next solo album and has a series of collaborations set for release this Spring, including the darkly sexy ‘Make Me Feel’ just released on Terranova’s new ‘Hotel Amour’ album. Up next is the song ‘Hyper Lust’ on the new album from Motor and a special Warhol-inspired EP / video release with Colin Waterson. Billie continues to run her record label, Disco Activisto, in Berlin and DJs around the world with growing success.
